Shorus is dedicated to addressing the critical need for affordable housing by building, rehabilitating, and preserving safe, sustainable homes for those most at risk of housing instability—including veterans, families, seniors, and individuals experiencing homelessness. We believe every person deserves to live in a strong, thriving, and vibrant community.
Shorus actively advocates for the enforcement of tenants' rights and the long-term preservation of affordable housing, ensuring that existing units remain both accessible and dignified. Through strategic partnerships with community leaders, service providers, and local organizations, we support and advance policies and programs that promote fair, sustainable, and affordable housing.
Grant funding allows Shorus to expand these vital housing efforts, increase the overall supply and quality of affordable units, and improve long-term stability and opportunity for the communities we serve. Affordable housing is not simply a real estate issue; it is essential infrastructure for our collective future.
We have designated massive capital requirements to acquire and develop housing in two primary California regions experiencing severe housing shortages:
Funding Goal: $500M Los Angeles Allocation
Regional Crisis: Facing severe shortages, rising construction costs, high land prices, and a growing gap between wages and rent.
Funding Goal: $300M San Diego Allocation
Regional Crisis: Driven by limited public funding, slow approval processes, overcrowding, and accelerating displacement.
Affordable housing is directly connected to economic, social, and public health issues. When vulnerable families, seniors, and veterans cannot access or afford stable housing, entire communities experience increased homelessness, displacement, financial instability, and severe overcrowding.
To successfully resolve this housing crisis, we must accelerate the production of new affordable housing, preserve existing units, and strongly support nonprofit and mission-driven developers. We work tirelessly to eliminate unnecessary development barriers and establish modern financing models that allow housing projects to move forward faster.
The true solution to housing instability requires deep, intentional collaboration between local governments, private capital, nonprofit organizations, builders, lenders, and community stakeholders. Together, we can build a stronger foundation for life and opportunity.
Join our mission to build, rehabilitate, and preserve dignified housing for those who need it most.
